what is a full draw in archery?

Once you’ve reached your optimal shooting position, you need to perform the last move to get into full draw. This is called the recurve draw motion. You can learn more by reading archery books.

If you’re drawing correctly, you should be able not only to reach your full-drawn position consistently, but also to use your shoulders to expand through the clicker. Your goal here is to bring the wrist, hand and forearm around the body efficiently, whilst keeping your grip connected. As you do so, you’ll bring the arrow further into your natural archery posture. This means that at maximum pull, the tension of the string should mostly be holding your bones together.

Importantly, when you’re doing the right way of pulling the bowstring, you want to avoid compressing, tightening, or causing any kind of pain in the shoulders. So, if you’re using the right technique, then you should be able to feel comfortable throughout the entire pull.
